Mary Williams Elementary School
National Elementary Honor Society

* Scholarship       * Responsibility    * Service   * Leadership

Membership in the National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to one of our students. Our chapter of NEHS has worked hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter, along with other chapters in schools across the nation, strives to give practical meaning to the Society's standards of scholarship, responsibility, service, and leadership.

These four ideals have been considered as the basis for student selection. No student is inducted simply because of good grades. The National Elementary Honor Society recognizes the total student -- one who excels in all of these areas.

The standards used for selection are:
Scholarship—3.5 GPA cumulative average
Responsibility—as demonstrated by activities at home, at school, and in the community
Character – as demonstrated by activities at home, at school, and in the community

Membership, however, is more than an honor. Membership brings a new responsibility to continue to demonstrate those outstanding qualities that results in selection.  Membership also carries a responsibility to the Mary Williams Elementary School Chapter. If our chapter to the National Elementary Honor Society is to be effective and meaningful, each member must become involved. We challenge you to strive to do your best in all you do both at school and in your community to allow others to see you for the great students you truly are.

We look forward to hearing from you regarding the National Elementary Honor Society and to watching your child excel as he or she shines for all to see.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Paula Hinson

Wow!! I can't believe this year has come and gone so fast.  You have been one awesome group this year.  We have accomplished so much in order to improve our school: Battle of the Books, Spelling Bee, Speed Stacking, treats for the teachers and the students, and many more challenges for our fifth grade students.

To all of my fifth grade students:  You will be greatly missed.
To all of my fourth grade students:  Great job this year and be sure to
