Welcome Back Panther Cubs and Parents!
I can't wait to have another exciting year in the art room with the Cubs!
Hope you had a very relaxing and fun summer. I am looking forward to this new school year at Mary Williams Elementary and I am very excited to share new ideas, new art projects and creative experiences across all grade levels from k through 5th grade. I would like to personally welcome returning students and a special welcome to all the new students at Mary Williams this year. I hope to see all of you at Back to School Night.

As the school year begins the Art Room will consume its supplies very rapidly. We know that many supplies for art come from what we might consider to be trash or junk, so with your assistance and generosity the art department would appreciate anything from the list below that you no longer need or use.
Small Plastic Containers with lids
Zip Lock bags
I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding school year with the Panther Cubs here at Mary Williams.

Art Class Room Information
Teacher: B. Jazvic
Grade Levels: K-5
Goals: My goals are simple, motivate my students so they can express themselves verbally, visually and creatively through their art work, build a strong art vocabulary so they can speak and understand the language of the visual arts and to improve art techniques and skills while learning new ones.
Curriculum: The PWCPS elementary art program consists of four major components, Visual Communication and Art Production, Cultural Context and Art History, Judgment and Criticism and Aesthetics. These four components focus on enriching students’ awareness of the arts and giving them a creative and challenging experience.
The following grading scales are use in all grade levels:
S+ = Master concept: Apply skills independently, demonstrates and mastered full understanding of
S = Meets Expectations: Demonstrates understanding of concept and apply skills independently.
S- = Insufficient Progress: Continue to demonstrate a lack of understanding concept, incomplete
Assignments, and difficulties accomplishing grade level tasks.
N = Refusal to attempt art assignments, extremely below the standards and understanding the concept.
Class Behavior Guidelines: To maintain a safe productive learning environment, art class guidelines will be established and reviewed in each class. Each child is expected to follow class guidelines so class time can be used for fun learning art activities. Parents will be notified when their child has disrupted the learning environment after two warnings (verbal and time-out/writing assignment) however, there are certain misbehaviors that require immediate action. Disruption that continually reoccurs often leads to an unsatisfactory report card grade and incomplete assignments in art class.
Incentives: To help promote good behavior while in art, I will reward each class with 3 giant smile faces. First smile face: Enter the art room quickly and quietly.
Second smile face: Follow directions and work appropriately during class.
Third smile face: Clean up after yourself and line up in a respectful manner.
Each smile face equals a Caught Ya. If class behavior is above and beyond, Caught Yas’ doubled.
