Our Class Website!
We have been setting personal reading and math goals, as well as whole class goals. The students have been doing really amazing with this and have reached many of the goals that they have set for themselves. The students first write their goals and hang them in the goal center, once they have achieved that goal they glue it onto the Our Goals Achieved poster to look at all year! Talk with your child about their goals!
The SOL math practice test will take place on Wednesday. Please make sure your child is well-rested!
SOL night will be March 28th! Save the date! There will be food and good information.
This will be the last week for word study. We have decided to use this time to focus on reading and math SOL instruction.
Jamestown/Yorktown field trip is fast approaching. You now have the permission slip for it. The cost is 45.00 for the charter and admission. The money and permission slip is due no later than April 6th. Please plan accordingly for both the cost and the arrangements needed to be made for the students to arrive to school by 7:30am and to be picked up after school. It is a very cool field trip where the students get to be in a place that they have studied about!
Homework this week:
We will be working on focusing SOL related curriculum. It is very important that your child is fully invested in their homework. Your child will have paper reading and math homework every night this week.
If your child is struggling please refer to their math interactive notebook, or go onto Khan academy or YouTube to see the steps to the math problems. Also, if your child has paper homework and they have worked on it for 20 minutes and are struggling just have them stop, and write me a note so I know that they were unable to do the work.
Check out the files under each
subject I have uploaded important notes and study guides. Also, make sure you are checking and signing your child's agenda each night!
We are working on main idea and supporting details. Please talk with your child about summarizing text in seven words or less.
We are finishing up procedural writing. The students are writing "how to" papers.
We are working on measurement. The students are learning to convert units in regards to length, capacity, and math.
We have begun our ecosystems unit. The students are currently learning about animal adaptations.
