We celebrated our 100th Day of school and we are past the halfway point.  This year is moving fast.  During the month of March, we celebrate Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  We will enjoy stories from authors like Dr. Seuss and Anna Dewdney.  This month's theme is Seussville.

At home you can continue the learning by reinforcing your child's goals in social skills, emotional responses, receptive language, and expressive language.  Some examples of social-emotional development activities are to engage in pretend play (i.e. kitchen, bus driver)
and use words (‘milk, banana, cereal, etc.’) and sentences (‘I would like ___ to eat/drink, please’) to express your/their feelings and thoughts.

Expressive and receptive language can be practiced through
reading a book to your child and ask them questions such as Where is the…Point to the…  Additionally, allowing your child to help with household chores such as laundry can help with colors when sorting by colors.  Setting the table for dinner can be an opportunity for counting when you encourage them to count the plates or utensils they set out for family.  As a reminder research shows that 30 minutes or less of screen time is a good amount of time for most preschoolers.

Our class loves songs and we will continue to use songs to encourage social interactions.  We utilize songs/games to practice and encourage independence, turn-taking, and socio-emotional awareness.  Our favorites are: If You’re Happy and Know it, Johnny Johnny, Make a Circle, Put on Your Shoes, and the Barney Clean-up song.  Checkout the links to some useful sites located here in the Useful Links Tab on this page.

I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time through my email.
