I am so missing you all and look forward for the resumption of classes.

As we maneuver our way through this period, I wish to express gratitude to all parents/ guardians for your patience and understanding. Let me encourage you to read ALL emails sent from the county and also make reference to the PWCS Coronavirus-related Updates
web-page for any new information on division's operations.

All work is optional during this time and will not be graded. Everything that was turned in PRIOR to our extended leave has been placed in the grade book.

As per PWCS policy:

  • we are not assigning any new classwork while the schools are closed.
  •  There is, however, a list of resources to help our students practice at home:

1. PWCS instructional staff have put together
Home Learning webpage with resources for all grade levels.

2. Our
Instructional Calendar has been uploaded to the Files and Documents folder (see the tab in the top left corner of this page). This is a document that lists all of the 5th grade skills that we have covered so far in Quarters 1 - 3.

3. The
unit folders within each subject inside Files and Documents folder contain resources for review of what we have already learned in class.

4. Each student has access to
Office 365. Under Clever app, students can access programs, such as MyOn for reading, IXL* for math, reading, and writing, Khan Academy for all subjects, etc.

* IXL now has the
VA SOL tab on the top right corner that allows to search for Virginia standards in both Math and Language Arts.

5. Every student has access to
SOL PASS website. Select Mary Williams ES as your school and type in the password: cubs. This website has activities for every grade level skills in Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

6. Our Math program Origo now offers a series of weekly activities designed to be implemented outside of school
Origo at Home. No login necessary, Just select United States, then click Start/5th grade/Week 1.

Additional resources will be added to our class page as the need arise. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at Johnsoeo@pwcs.edu with any questions you may have.

Please please be safe! practice social distancing!
One love you all!!
